Synopsis

On January 1st 2018, conservative candidate Jair Bolonsonaro was sworn in as president of Brazil. This film, captured one year later, hands the microphone to four young and engaged voters, from radically different backgrounds, who give their assessment of the new government’s impact.

On the one hand, we have Genesis, a black and bisexual poet who uses her art to denounce the new regime’s racist and homophobic discourse. On the other, we have Davi, who views his new president as a defender of the family views which he believes are threatened by gender theory. He will run for the local elections as a candidate for Bolonsaro’s party.

We hear as well from Gabriel, a student dependent on government grants, who joins protests opposing caps on university funding. Ana, meanwhile, is an environmentalist whose battle against Bolsonaro is not fought in the political sphere but instead on the ground, in the Amazon.

The stories, struggles and fate of four people expressed through the narration of their daily lives.
