Synopsis
Wuhan. China’s ninth largest city, the central city in Central China, transport hub and manufacturing centre, larger than the largest city in Europe, and largely unknown outside of China.
Jin Yin Tan. Wuhan’s premier hospital for infectious diseases, also unknown outside of China, was the frontline in what was to become a global pandemic.
The First Outbreak looks behind the headlines to tell the tragic, intimate and inspiring human stories of the people at the heart of the pandemic. Embedded for almost three months inside the locked-down hospital, our crew filmed patients and medical staff as they fought this new disease, COVID-19.
